In the early 1990s, the Mamawetin Churchill River Health Region championed a new project; a hospital for La Ronge including acute care, 12 long term care beds, and therapies, home care, and numerous other services. $645,000 ($1.3 million in today's money) was raised through business pledges, individuals, and countless fundraising events. This community has a rich and generous history of healthcare support, and we are grateful to the people who supported this venture with their volunteer time, money, and attendance at events.
A Thank-You to Anne Hryniuk
Anne chaired the first few years of the fundraising campaign for the current health center, which occurred in the early 1990s. Followed by Doug Chism, who took over the campaign in 1992, she organized a series of fundraising events including a $150,000 pancake breakfast, Christmas lights on the crane, and a very successful auction. The community certainly rallied around the last campaign, and we are grateful to Anne and Doug for creating this rich history of healthcare generosity in our community. Thank you, Anne, for your incredible volunteer work, and for laying the foundation for our campaign.
